In short, the expressive animation and intentionally fumbly physics are on point - enough to make up for Pikuniku‘s borderline-too-basic art direction. In Pikuniku a friendly ghost asked me to send a postcard once in a while. It’s a lot of whimsy crammed into a five-hour runtime. Just hopping around, kicking objects (and your teammate, causing their eyes to bug way out), and flinging yourself around ledges with a grappling hook is good, silly fun. There’s always something new to see or do, so many playful ideas that are introduced and then tossed aside. All prints are professionally printed, packaged, and shipped within 3 - 4 business days. I’ve had a ton of fun with it, and only had a few minor issues.

It’s 11 levels full of the same kinds of puzzles you get in the main game, and I had loads of fun playing them with my kids.Īt just over a tenner, Pikuniku is a fantastic game. You can also swing on hooks placed around the world, and zoom along zip wires. The shoulder buttons let you switch your mask and use certain items, if you have them. It would have been nice if Pikuniku was longer and had a bit more to its story, if only because it means spending more time with its interesting and charming world. So don’t give me any of that “I don’t like crazy Japanese games” rubbish.
